These wood flowers are carved deep in a hollow of the ancient Appalachian Mountains. They symbolize the strength and beauty of the mountains, forests and people of West Virginia
The wood is carved, cut and steam bent into flowers and leaves. The lightest and dyed flowers are maple, holly, pine and poplar. The darkest are walnut. Also included are cherry, oak and other local hardwoods. Then they are sprayed with a finish. There is an ancient tradition of Gypsies and Irish Travelers carving and selling wood flowers at fairs in Europe and America, so wood flowers are sometimes called “gypsy flowers”.
All wood is sourced either from own farm or local West Virginia hardwoods. All flowers can be dyed to your specifications.
