Snowman Contest by WV Appalachian Artist Gail Murphy
This original acrylic primitive, entitled Snowman Contest, is by Appalachian artist Gail Murphy. Murphy whimsically captures the charms of a small Appalachian town on a winter’s snowy day. This is one of a collection of four of Murphy's Appalachian-themed primitives from the Diamonds' Art Gallery in Southern West Virginia. This work measures 22 ½ x 18 3/4 and is framed in a distressed wooden frame, which is included in the price.
About the Artist
It is said that, Murphy, now deceased, would always paint the bodies of people in her paintings before painting the faces as she had trouble deciding what the faces should look like without the bodies. Murphy's works were juried into The Bronze Look's art collection after careful consideration by 4 jurors, one being the founder of The Bronze Look.
